scarroll007 Majestic, intricate, and very British, BBT set a new modern standard with this album. The epic title track can hold its own against just about any classic 70s prog band. Outstanding! Favorite track: The Underfall Yard.

impressivelad A soaring masterpiece of modern prog that gives Genesis's best albums a run for their money. The feel is deeply melancholy and nostalgic. It's all fantastically composed with memorable melodies and motifs everywhere, extremely cohesive. The epic title track is a monumental achievement, absolutely godly guitar and keyboard playing. But the track itself flows so well, never losing steam and always poignant. Favorite track: The Underfall Yard.

Master James of St. George, of the fields and the sky. He used to build castles of stone, steel and blood. But lines get broken down.

Call up the boys, call them now, time to bring them home. They will call if they want to. Fog hampered the search, Lost at sea, lost in the water. He told me many stories of the great ones, lights might bring them home. Every day they put the boats out, but not this day. Fog hampered the search, now great shock diamonds fill the sky and the deep. Lost in low light and ocean tides, the love you never meant to hide. Too far south, misplaced in my home town, the Victorian brickwork weathered but unchanged. Lost in low light and ocean tides, the love you never meant to hide. As the waves make toward a distant shore as the last words are spoken into a rising storm, falling away. Lost in the low light and the ocean tides, the love you never meant to hide. He showed me many places made me many things, carried me back home as if lost on the water. He told me many stories of the great ones, lights might bring them home. Every day they put the boats out, but not this day. Now I know who I am, I know what I mean And I know where I came from. From the sea. Lost in low light and ocean tides, the love you never meant to hide.

Last Train 06:27
End of the road he’s travelling, waiting for trains that never ever come. They’ve all gone. End of the final day, light fades she moves away to the north. This will never come again. Living on the line for all those years happy but if lonely. Half in sun and half in shade, twelve stones at the forest edge. Mr Delia is leaving home, all is left to grass and rust Gone. Fetch wood for the fire, the last days of summer, he prepares for the end of the line. Sure as the curving Earth, the beat of the second hand, counts the days down to the end of the line.

Breaking the stone, a thousand years, an underfall. The water’s edge is closer than you think, surface tension falling as the air is taken in. Beneath the walls, all light has gone, like the passage of a mine whose seam is unknown. He worked each drift by hand alone, sand and water and blood and stone. He hadn’t much of a story to tell, just how he stopped the walls from falling. Making a stand, made solid ground. Two worlds apart, the people say their Sunday prayers. Music fills the vaulted space; the organ covers up the hammer falls. But the water’s edge is closer than you thing, you can see it in his staring eyes, the dripping shell, the lower parts of hell are just beneath you.

Steel in the skies and the road, somehow travelling far. Chasing a dream of the west made with iron and stone. These are old hills that stand in the way breaking the line. It came out of the storm, out of the sea to the permanent way Using just available light, he could still see far. Deep in the heart of the land breaking through the old stone. Chasing the trail of the water down through underground streams. Working the way through the valleys and fields, grass grown hills and stone. Parting the land with the mark of man, the permanent way, Using just available light, he could still see far skies, deep time. These are old places stood in the way. Low cloud comes to ground. The grey and the green and the bold and the brave on the permanent way. Using just available light, he could still see far. Using just available light, he could still see far. Twelve stones from the water continents apart the clouds are gathering again, filling up the sky, it rains on England. Roofless engine houses distant hills like bookends frame electrical storms moving out to sea away from England. Those days have gone, those days... Those days have gone, their names are lost the stories left untold. Under an ordinary star we are just moments of time, it is the end of the line this place is worked out. A faultline opens in the ground waves make their way to the shore, this is the end of the line, time worn and broken. These things have faded with the light few know the stories now, this is the end of the line, time worn and broken. Under steel grey skies he is drawn across the river. No bands played, there was no sound. A sunray met the dark of the fuller's earth. It is gone now. It is over. All good things and everything... this used to be a railway town now we're travelling without knowing, without meaning. Light bleeds from the world, Starcross, the Underfall Yard, the iron and the stone is broken, the dream of the Western mind, searching for reason is gone now. These are old places stood in the way, grass grown hills and stone. Parting the land with the mark of man, the permanent way, Using just available light, he could still see far.
